Getting your website online under your own domain (like yourbrand.com) sounds technical, but it really comes down to three things: a domain, a place to host your files, and connecting the two. This guide walks you through all of it in plain language.
1. Get a domain name
Buy a domain from any registrar — GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hostinger, or Google Domains. A .com usually costs ₹700–1000/year. Pick something short and memorable. You don't need to buy hosting from the same company; the domain and the hosting can (and often should) be separate.
2. Choose where to host your files

3. Point your domain to the host

4. Upload your site and go live

Common mistakes to avoid
- Forgetting SSL: A site without HTTPS shows a "Not secure" warning. Good hosts issue SSL automatically — never pay extra for it.
- Slow hosting: If your host has no CDN, far-away visitors wait longer. A CDN caches your site at edge locations worldwide.
- Mixing up A-records and nameservers: Changing nameservers is the cleanest way to delegate DNS to your host.
